Expressions of Interest - Creative Program Director
“To be the catalyst in developing creative, open-minded young Western Australians who are engaged with the world.”
AWESOME seeks expressions of interest for the position of Creative Program Director. The position requires a passion for the contemporary arts and the ability to inspire and lead the creative drive of AWESOME’s team of committed individuals.
The position will commence in early 2009 in the role of Associate Program Director for the 2009 AWESOME Festival for Bright Young Things and will assume the role of Festival Program Director for the 2010 Festival.
The AWESOME Festival aims to bring innovative contemporary arts programming from around the world to the young people of Perth. These works sit alongside the outcomes of AWESOME’s Creative Challenge regional program at the Festival. The Program Director requires the vision to engage our audience through program selections and the skills, knowledge and contacts to seek appropriate works from around Australia, the world and right here in our own backyard.
The position will also work with the AWESOME team on our existing and expanding program of specialist contemporary arts projects within the Western Australian community. They will be required to develop or source new creative concepts and build teams of artists and producers to bring them to life.
In order to fill this position you will need a diverse and unique skill set. The following attributes will be required at a minimum:
· Working knowledge of and passion for contemporary arts practice across all media.
· Big picture vision with practical skills and knowledge required to bring your ideas to fruition.
· Leadership talent.
· Ability to develop and realise creative concepts on a limited budget.
· Budget development and management skills for creative projects.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise at all levels.
· Ability to work with artists to achieve their vision and to harness their talent to achieve positive outcomes for AWESOME.
· Ability to build collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders including venues, funding partners, sponsors and contemporary arts organisations locally, nationally and internationally.
