Free film/performance/media project starts Nov 13

ASHFIELD YOUTH THEATRE in association with Burwood Council and City of Canada Bay Council are calling for registrations from talented young people across the inner-west of Sydney to participate in a new media project titled "Between You & Me" (BY&M). BY&M is a new media production which will reveal, explore and celebrate the relationship young people have with public space, the notions of surveillance and the attitudes mainstream society have towards loitering and the congregation of young people. The project will engage young people with interests in technology and performance to work alongside the innovative new-media company - CuriousWorks. The project will work with young people to create a site-specific multi-media outdoor production culminating in 2 free public performances in Burwood. BY&M utilises innovative media technologies to create a visual, audio and performative landscape. Using text, images and audio sourced by the young people, BY&M will transform a public park into an innovative, interactive performance space. CuriousWorks are storytellers and creative collaborators… investigating current issues from a fresh perspective through skills in performance, film, music, installation and audiovisual; all of which explore contemporary relationships between art, culture, technology and public space. ASHFIELD YOUTH THEATRE (AYT) is a significant producer of youth theatre productions throughout the inner-west of Sydney. A project of Ashfield Council, AYT engage the most exciting and exceptional creative artists to mentor young people to create new theatre for new audiences.
