Well...

How do we know for sure this is genuine? Any official websites? Seriously, open-auditions for a multi-million dollar film in PERTH? Sounds like an oxymoron....

Authenticity

Firstly, I will vouch for kerri as being a thorough and reputable user on this site. She is not one to be taken in as such.

On the other hand, I understand concerns about authenticity and am making some enquiries of my own with people who should know. I will get back once I have details...

Doesn't the Golden Orb

Doesn't the Golden Orb still only rises in the East? Especially for that amount of gold bricks being chucked at this local film - there again I'm old 'n thick as two short planks. I must of have missed the changes completely? [bleeding day light saving, always mucks me about? - next they will legislate to have Twilight introduced!]

Contacts

I have been in contact with local casting agent and consultant Jenni Cohen's team who can confirm that a film by the name of Wasted is to be filmed in Perth and are of the opinion that this is a legitmate casting call to fill addition roles not previously filled in more official casting sessions.

IMPORTANT!!!

Guys and Gals, you do take the plunge and post a message, then regardless of the legitimacy of the casting, tread with care.

If you are asked to make some sort of payment, then don't agree to anything up front. If you have an agent, then consult with them directly first.

While there is confirmed details of a Film requiring cast, that does not make this request truthful. All signs say everything is OK but do tread with care.

Good luck to those that apply.

Oh, it's real alright!

The high tech thriller Wasted, will receive $750,000 in funding from ScreenWest, the Western Australian film and television funding agency, as the third project to benefit from the West Coast Visions low budget feature film initiative. "The YouTube generation meets Saw in Wasted, a voyeuristic teen, tech, thriller with global appeal" Wasted is written by local writer Ben C. Lucas who will also direct the film with Western Australian producers Aidan O’Bryan and Janelle Landers from WBMC. Wasted synopsis: When a high school party goes dangerously off the rails, one teenager finds that revenge is just a computer click away. taken from www.screenwest.com.au/download.cfm?DownloadFile=AF618F77-1708-51EB-A632D9C19032678D

Has anyone applied for...

Has anyone applied for this? I'm interested if anyone has received any word on this such as a reply email etc.? I'm contemplating whether I should send an email as I am only 15... but I lokk much older. Dianne
LabrugTue, 14 Oct 2008, 04:12 pm

Go for it

I would suggest you at least try for it, but do so with parental approval. Technically, you are still a minor and would probably require parental approval before even doing the show/film anyway. You know, the usual legal stuff.

applications

Hello Dianne A lot of people have applied. If you are only 15, don't bother, as they simply won't accept you. You must be over 16. Of course you would receive a reply email telling you the time and place for the workshop audition. It is genuine. Kerri

stuck record

sorry if this is sounding like a stuck record but would it make any difference if we turn 16 in early january? or do we have to be 16 for the audition?

Are there going to be any melbourne based auditions? Or is it only in Perth?

Try your Luck

I'd try your luck with the age thing but by the sounds of things it may be a legal thing, rather then a look thing. Make sense? Well I've taken the plunge, why not? Can't hurt. I haven't seen any dodgy signs yet and the company has been in touch with me several times. ~ Tari The Writer is a child forever listening at the keyhole of the adult world.

strange. i think i'll try emailing again, what did you include in your email?
Tari-XalyrFri, 17 Oct 2008, 09:50 am

What does it matter

What does it matter what I said? I said I was interested in the casting call made regarding the film WASTED. They did tell me they're processing replies as quickly as possible but they've had an enormous amount - alot more then they were expecting. I figure if they haven't gotten back by the closing date then don't worry about it, move on. I know I will. ~ Tari The Writer is a child forever listening at the keyhole of the adult world.
Walter PlingeFri, 17 Oct 2008, 12:41 pm

no reply

I emailed over a week ago, and haven't got a reply. Ive been checking constantly, I really want to audition if they'd only REPLY. :-\
TaureanSun, 19 Oct 2008, 07:23 pm

Welcome to the real world Perth

Seems that Tari has the only sensible and realistic approach to this. (And Chookas to you)

Go for it, (Why not take a chance? They don't come along here in WA very often!)

Gratefully accept the responses given by the company (if any - if not, they have a darn good reason).

And then patiently WAIT ... if it happens, it happens

If it doesn't - move on.

Complaining here that "I didn't get a reply" isn't going to help you other than venting your frustrations.

"Be nice to your Tech's - or they'll turn out the lights and go home!"

Walter PlingeMon, 20 Oct 2008, 05:13 pm

slightly self righteous

slightly self righteous dont you think? People were merely commenting to see if any other help may be offered in response. Everybody's going to "get over it" if it doesn't happen, Ive already accepted that it might not and thats fine, thats life. Maybe people just were "venting their frustrations" why not let them do that in a forum for DISCUSSION rather than getting on your elitist high horse
Walter PlingeTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:01 pm

got a rely about a week

got a rely about a week after, everything seems to be genuine as the casting area is genuine so ur best bet is to sign up and go for it. plus its perth its not like anything bad is gonna happen here like the ritual suicide of 3000 teenage kids
Walter PlingeTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:14 pm

where's it at?

question guys, i emailed yesterday but if it takes about a week for a reply i may not get it in time. can anyone tell me the location of the auditions? its open audition so i cant see them turning me away...
Walter PlingeTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:27 pm

that might cause increased

that might cause increased competition though which is suppose is the key harship of an open audition
Walter PlingeTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:34 pm

true

yeah i guess so plus they need to allocate times for everyone but still, my school only got notified about it yesterday so surely they are still open to people?
Walter PlingeTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:47 pm

apparently theyre sending

apparently theyre sending reply emails all today and tomorow so just get in there and u shoucl be sent a reply
Walter PlingeTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:49 pm

yay

oh sweet i emailed yesterday so i shud scrape in. best of luck to everyone hey. thanks!
kerriTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:53 pm

where is it at

Hello It is not an open audition as such. You must email the address and ask for an audition time. Open auditions simply means that anyone can audition ( within the required age range of course). The casting agents have been flooded with emails and they are slowly working their way through. The location is being given to you in an email. If you dont have a time, you will not be given an audition. Kerri
kerriTue, 21 Oct 2008, 06:56 pm

sorry but....

An article for the auditions was in the Sunday Times last week. I sent the information around to all independent and private schools last week and the information was sent to Dramawest as well in the hope of getting to as many schools as possible. The notice has been on here for some time as well. The deadline for email audition requests is tomorrow. Kerri
AyaneWed, 22 Oct 2008, 03:34 pm

I just sent my email today,

I just sent my email today, I asked my parents and they said they'd support me flying over to Perth for the day during my exam period... eek! So I hope I'm not too late...
Walter PlingeThu, 23 Oct 2008, 12:16 am

"Open" Audition

According to an email from the casting director, the company received too many applications, so if you have emailed the casting agent, you should expect a reply requesting a photo or resume etc to help them narrow down the audition list. I did, and have been allocated an audition, as has a friend of mine. I really wouldn't recommend just "turning up". The deadline for expressions of interest is supposed to be the 23rd - so I would get on to it if I were you!
Walter PlingeThu, 23 Oct 2008, 04:33 pm

not received reply yet

I applied on Monday and still haven't received a reply. Has anyone who has applied in the last few days received a reply yet
Walter PlingeFri, 24 Oct 2008, 03:59 pm

I applied yesterday (23rd)

I applied yesterday (23rd) and am not expecting a reply, which is disappointing because its such a great opportunity, my brother applied aswell. I hear there was way more applications than predicted, so i wonder if they closed applications early, or if all the audition times are full. If anyone knows anything please comment
AyaneSat, 25 Oct 2008, 11:44 am

Do you think it's possible

Do you think it's possible they might spill the auditions onto another weekend??
Walter PlingeSun, 26 Oct 2008, 12:29 pm

How'd everyone go?

I unfortuently didn't get the chance to audition. But how did everyone who went go? Good for all I hope?
AyaneSun, 26 Oct 2008, 01:42 pm

I didn't get an audition

I didn't get an audition time either :( Yeah! How did everyone go? What did they ask you to do?
JoeMcSun, 26 Oct 2008, 04:28 pm

T'other States!

for those in t'other States, just remember we put the clocks forward an hour today in WA.
ricky1986Mon, 27 Oct 2008, 09:18 am

I got an audition!

Turns out it was real after all. My audition went really well. I got to WAAPA and there were about fifty (okay, maybe that's an exaggeration...) people all waiting around and having their photos taken and filling out forms. We were called in after about twenty minutes of waiting. We entered a rehearsal studio. There were four people watching the auditions; Ben Lucas (the writer/director), Gregg Apps (casting director), Kate Bailey (assistant casting director) and the assistant director. We warmed up and then ran around screaming in order to "loosen up", according to Greg. We then did some group coordination exercises. Following that we paired off, I went with a guy named Buster, and did some trust exercises. Then we played a game not too dissimilar to Scattegories, and THEN the real fun started! We did improvisations in our original pairs relating to getting into a nightclub underage. Then we joined pairs into groups and did a bigger improvisation about a party gone wrong and the evidence left behind by digital technology (this one mirrored the plot - When a high school party goes dangerously off the rails, one teenager finds that revenge is just a computer click away.) It was a great audition - no fear, no real preparation (apart from a shave for me to pass as 17!) :) Greg said that they will be letting people know within two weeks and then Kate will be casting 30 or so extras in January. I'll keep y'all in the loop.
KimMooreMon, 27 Oct 2008, 11:38 am

was cool

Yeah the audition was pretty fun. You silly man they asked us not to tell other people what went on!:D I was supposed to go at 2.15pm but was very early so they fitted me in with the earlier group. One of the producers I remember gave us a lecture at uni about (surprise surprise....Film Production! haha. Hopefully will hear from them soon, if not was fun anyway!
AyaneMon, 27 Oct 2008, 01:31 pm

Awww... man I wish I got an

Awww... man I wish I got an audition! Good luck everyone :) Well I guess we can always be extras !

Callbacks

Did anyone get a callback for one of the main/supporting characters? I'm just wondering how many people they asked? kim or ricky, did either of you guys? :o) LK
Matt.S.Mon, 10 Nov 2008, 04:21 pm

Callbacks

Hey guys. Yeah i went to the audition to. If i remember correctly at the end of it they said that call backs for the main cast were going to be done in the following 2 weeks and that if we hadn't heard from them by then, it meant we hadn't been successful. So concidering that was exactly 2 weeks ago....guess its fingers crossed for an extra role, which i think they said they'll be casting in January or Febuary next year. So, the question is.............did anyone here get a call back for a main role?
Walter PlingeSat, 15 Nov 2008, 01:08 pm

Matt S., yes, I did get a

Matt S., yes, I did get a call back for one of the supporting/main roles. Hopefully there will be another one fingers crossed, I couldn't tell from the audition! I was with a girl from WAAPA in mine, I did one character and she did the other, they said they'd take about 2 weeks to get back to us. SO EXCITING!!!! I have been praying really hard, this would be so amazing!!! :o) (Pray for me too if you can!!!) I'm sorry you didn't get one Matt S., it's definitely not a reflection on you, one of my best friends has so much more experience, she's done commercials and she's in a theatre company and she has an agent, and she didn't get a callback. I think it just depends on if the way you look suited one of the characters they were casting for, and that is something you have absolutely no control over!!! And Ayane and everyone else on this post, keep on reaching and striving for what you want, i am a firm believer in that we can achieve anything if we put all of our energies, efforts, minds and hearts into it. Peace! LK :oD
