UWA student project looking for Actors/ Actresses

I am an international student studying Communication Studies in UWA. I am currently directing a short film as part of my coursework this semester. And I need volunteers to act as actors/ actresses to fill in the roles for my group’s short film drama. It is a zero-budget short film. Hence, we can’t promise any payment for this. But what we can give is the experience and the chance for those who want to try acting as their career. For our drama, we hope to achieve a 5-minute emotional-driven story involving the relationship of a Mother and a deaf child through visuals, sound effects and body language. Hence, we would need actors/ actresses, who are skilled enough to perform emotional facial expressions and convincing acting. The script has little dialogue. Hence, there isn’t any need for a good memory to memorise lines. About our short film: Synopsis: Mary is a talented pianist. She has a 7-year-old daughter, Joyce, who is born deaf. Despite her hearing impairment, Joyce has a strange love for music and yearns to play the piano and be as good as her mother. However, Mary would not allow her daughter to practise the piano, for she knows that Joyce is unable to hear and hence, would not be able to produce good music. Cast requirements: We need an actress, age from mid-20s to 40s to play the role as the Mother and a child actress, ranging from 6-12 to play the role as the daughter. Would be good if we can find an actual Mum and her daughter, who are both willing to fill in the roles as it would be easier for both Mum and Daughter to coordinate with each other when the shooting starts. But, we are flexible. Dates for filming From 10th October till 19th October.
