Rain spends a weekend with a teenage boy and his mother in the aftermath of his father's suicide. It explores issues of grief, loss, connection and spirituality. Rain will be performed as a one act play for the ITA drama festival in september. It calls for five actors two male, and three female. The following ages are stage ages.

Adam: 16/17, Country boy, sweet natured with a wry sense of humour, Has just moved to the city with his mum, after the suicide of his Dad, and the loss of their family farm due to the drought. Grown up in a religious family and is now struggling to reevaluate his spiritual beliefs in light of this experience.

Fey: 16/17, Standard teenage flirty ditz. Daughter of long term family friend. Adam and his mum are staying with them while they get back on their feet.

Sarah: 16/17, Fey's best friend. A bit of a nerd, very wry sense of humour, Sarah is practical, assertive and wise beyond her years.

Karen: 36-46 Adam's mum. Complete wreck, spends most of the show on stage, in a dressing gown, just sitting on the front porch.

Steve: 25-35, DCP style Mentor/Youth worker. Calm, cool and collected, must not be creepy.

Actors must be available for two rehearsals a week, fitting in with everybody's schedule. Not all actors will be called to every rehearsal.

Dramafest will be held over the long weekend, September 26-29th and will be hosted by Old Mill Theatre, in South Perth. There is a small possibility we may also be performing at the Southwest Drama Festival in Bunbury two weeks before, but this will depend highly on availability of actors.
