The Arcadians’ Theatre Group Presents... Blood Brothers After 20 years on the West End, Willy Russell’s award winning musical comes to Wollongong. “Did you hear the story of the Johnstone twins? As like each other as two new pins. Of one womb born, on the self same day. How one was kept and one given away…” Blood Brothers is set in Liverpool and tells the story of twins boys who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks. However, their lives become inevitably linked by a twist of fate and a mother’s haunting secret. A superb tale that will capture your heart and leave a lasting impression. The show is both hilariously funny as well as deeply moving and features some wonderful music including the haunting “Tell Me It’s Not True”. Written by Willy Russell (Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine) this International smash hit has scooped four awards for Best Musical in London and receives a standing ovation at every performance – Blood Brothers is truly unforgettable! In casting this show, we are looking for an ensemble of versatile performers who are strong actors and singers with a good feel for comedy. Cast: Mrs Johnstone: Working class mother of Mickey & Edward. Age range: 25-45. Vocal range: Mezzo Narrator: Also appears as various characters throughout the show. Age range: 30+. Vocal range: Tenor Mickey: Non-identical twin – working class upbringing. Age range: 20-35. Vocal range: Baritone Edward: Non-identical twin – upper class, well spoken and polite. Age range: 20-35. Vocal range: Tenor Mrs Lyons: The woman who claims Edward at birth and raises him as her own. Age range: 25-45. Vocal range: Mezzo Mr Lyons: Mrs Lyon’s husband – a successful businessman. Age range: 25-50. Vocal range: Baritone Linda: Mickey & Edward’s childhood friend and later love interest. Age range: 18-35. Vocal range: Mezzo Sammy: Mickey’s older brother. Age range: 20-35. Vocal range: Open Ensemble: A versatile group who will be required to play several characters. Age range: Open. * Mickey, Edward, Sammy, Linda and selected chorus must be able to play convincing 7 & 14 year olds as well as adult characters.
