THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

~ The Complete Bunbury Experience ~

Candlelight's ‘The Importance of Being Earnest – The Complete Bunbury Experience’ returns, after a sold out season last year.

New Season:         27th March – 6th April  (Melbourne International Comedy Festival)

Venue:                   Chapel Off Chapel

The same cast is returning but we’re looking for a dozen people to provide fun pre-show, post-show and interval entertainment for our audiences: “The Complete Bunbury Experience”.

Imagine this... You buy your ticket to see the show, a doorman opens the main door for you and announces your arrival to the entire crowd. You find yourself in a 19th century Victorian ballroom and are instantly invited to play croquet (with actors who invariably cheat), go ballroom dancing to live period music, or receive lessons in etiquette and elocution. Those who are less daring will have the chance to view painted portraits of the cast, sip tea in a lounge area or be served cucumber sandwiches by roving butlers and maids.

This is ‘The Complete Bunbury Experience’.

It’s all included in the ticket price. And it all happens before the show has even begun.

And this is your chance to get involved.

THE COMMITMENT

The season: 27th Mar – 6th April

Performances: Thur-Sat nights 7.30-10.30pm (you’ll be required 6.30-11pm) and Sun nights at 6pm.

Rehearsals: Saturdays from 16th Feb – 15th Mar (5 weeks). Most likely 10am-2pm.

For this season a separate director has been engaged for the Bunbury Experience.

A convincing English accent is highly desirable. Training with our linguistics coach will be available.

You will be in costume and will be required to have a fitting in advance

Hospitality experience is a bonus, but not essential.

Servant hearts (and a fun attitude) required.

N.B. - There is a bit of room to move (by negotiation) if you cannot make it to all the performances.

For any of you who are not currently in a show, this will be an easy, potentially impressive addition to the CV, requiring minimal time on your part. And you’ll get to join a lovely, tight-knit team of people and hopefully have a whole lot of fun while you’re at it. There’ll be a big focus on characterisation and audience interaction – no scripts, potential chaos. A great chance to build community.

Auditions are being held this Saturday 19th Jan. Please forward your CV and headshot, (or just an email if you don’t have them) to eugene@candlelightproductions.com.au or call 0402 410 513 for more details.

If you would like to subscribe to our mailing list, just email me your contact details – Name, address, email, phone numbers, and I’ll arrange it. If you don’t want to be contacted about acting opportunities in the future, please let us know.
If you can’t be involved but would like to book tickets, visit www.beingearnest.info or drop us an email.

Kind regards,

Eugene*
