Moreland Theatre Company.
Presenters Required
Proposals are sought from individuals and community groups interested in presenting at Victoria’s first community theatre conference to be hosted by Moreland Theatre Company in July, 2008.
Purpose of Conference
“Community theatre” is theatre made by people for their community, and, as such, can play an important role maintaining and developing culture, as well as adding to the social capital of the community. For these reasons, it is important for community theatre to be kept alive, and for community groups to build connections with other groups, to work towards a sustainable community theatre for tomorrow.
In 2008, Moreland Theatre Company* will host Victoria’s very first community theatre conference exploring the topic “building a sustainable community theatre”. The purpose of this conference will be to create a dialogue within and amongst amateur and community theatre practitioners about the how we can develop and maintain a sustainable community theatre, amidst a fast-changing technology-dependent society.
Proposals are sought from interested individuals and community groups who have something to say about their experiences in community theatre in its current state, and the direction it could take into the future. Submissions should contain a brief outline of the presentation, a current resume and contact details for the applicant.
For more information on the conference and/or ideas for discussions topics, contact Monique on 0404 416 352/spiralprd@yahoo.com.au, or Vikki on 0417 394 514/vikkidee@gmail.com.
