does anyone know any acting schools around the mornington peninsula, or frankston area?

I'm from Mt Eliza Victoria, and i was wondering if anyone knows of any acting schools around the Mornington Peninsula, or Frankston area's, for beginners? It would be much appreciated, i found one "acting up" in Mt Martha, but I'm not sure if it's good or not? Thank you, Paloma Cabello

Ah, you got ahead of me. The only one I know of is Acting Up, run by a friend of mine. Sally's a very well-known writer and actress, and though I haven't taken any of her classes, she does seem to have a good reputation for them. I also agree with Jeremy - your local council, community arts centre, or drama teacher, should be able to help you more. Contact Sean B (a member of this site), who's local to the Frankston area. He may have some ideas. - You might want to try the Frankston arts centre too. Outside of Sally's classes, and the Frankston area, I have a feeling you'd have to head more towards Melbourne in order to attend classes. I haven't heard of many places in your area. Depending on your age (I haven't checked your profile or anything) places like Cube 37 at the Frankston Arts Centre often runs an acting class for young people or a few different types- say on improv or things like that. This doesn't really help if you're over 16 though as they are usually limited at that stage, but if you're a beginner a good place to start. Talking to the council may be a good idea- they may know of something, especially more than what I know of. The other thing would be to look around at local theatre companies (especially some of the smaller ones in the area) when they do a new production. I know a group has just started up in Tyabb- they recently performed a show in Sommerville- as it's a new group I'm sure they'd be looking for people from all talent ranges and still be able to teach some techniques rather than just 'expect you to know'. Other than that I don't know an awful lot of acting 'schools' down this way, just really theatre companies. Oh another thought pops into my head- sometimes the local schools (such as the ones in Langwarrin) that have theatres will offer outside of school acting classes- so maybe check with a few schools as well, especially if they have theatres of their own. Chances are they're renting them out to acting classes to make a bit of money from them. I'll do some research and see what I can find. Good luck though.
