Evening creators of a new reality. We are in need of volunteer actors and extras in Melbourne. This is for an assignment, which is to be preferably made by Nov 5th, so the following dates are to be kept free 18th, 20th, 25th and 28th October. And other dates will be given to you at due notice. I am to make a trailer, for a film in which I am looking for "investors". This film is about a Muslim girl who falls from grace shall we say. It is not supposed to be your typical rebellion film, but hold more than that. Actors are to note, that absolute comfort is to be required; and that implied intimacy is needed. This is not derogatory in anyway. As the trailer will consist of the crucial scenes of the film as a whole; that is the sins she commits. Alima (Female 18-21): Dark haired, Middle Eastern. Or someone who can pass as that ethnicity. The actress, will need to be able to pull off any emotion, can cry, or at least hold tears back but have her eyes water. As is said, the best actors are not the ones that cry but the ones that can hold back and make the audience cry. Must be comfortable with intimacy; There is No nudity however implied, so someone who is comfortable in their underwear at least, and not be hesitant. Appear fine on the outside but deteriorating within. Guy (Male 21-23): Any Ethnicity, this is her "boyfriend" well it comes down to it later on. They are friends however, he is the one that leads her into the sinful scene shall we call it. "Drugs, and so on and so forth" however. He is not a bad person as a whole. Even though he will hurt her, she can be herself with him, and yet, hold back. The Actor who is to play this role also needs to be subtle in his emotions, and comfortable with inclined intimacy as stated. Ibrahim (Male 21-23): Brother to Alima Middle Eastern or someone who again can pass as that ethnicity. Is freer than Alima, however, he wants to protect her. And he can see her deteriorating; and he wants to bring her back (help her). Alima's Father (Male 40-45) *or anyone who can look that age range*: Middle eastern or again someone who can pass. Accent would be preferable, however if not, it's okay. He is, how should I put it. The guard of her cell. No exit. He is harsh with her when he finds out about the sins she commits. Disastrous to the reputation of the family, however; behind this angry visage, is a frail man, trying to do his best for the family. *this is to help with creating the character, however on screen we need the angry side. But not too much. *The actors should be able to perform to what the trailer script gives them, as the whole script is not written yet. Apologies for any inconvenience. *Even though, the scenes are short. And may have little dialogue because it is short. Every scene is necessary and actors are preferably needed to bring these characters to life regardless of how much they are there for. They are all important. *Extra's are too important to create the atmosphere of the scenes so any person who is interested in being an extra please send your interest to the email down below. It's all appreciated. This film is about Repression Vs Freedom in a way. The idea of this film was what one Muslim man said about western society. This is to show that what you are does not make you who you are. However the boundaries in what it creates is larger and more damaging to the self, when trying to break free. This is not a rebellion story, is about the decisions we make, as a result of being held bound against your will somewhat. Even though as stated above this is for an assignment. I do believe in this film, and want it to be made in real life, this assignment somewhat helps me prepare for that. Any one who is interested in being included in the making of this trailer, should send their CV and Headshots, to tginadas@hotmail.com, any interest shown will be thoroughly appreciated. To conclude in grasping you interest I leave you with the pitch, I am however still refining "We have all felt repressed at one point in our lives. Have you all wished to do something that is seen as taboo in your culture's or faiths eyes? Just for the sake of experiencing what it would be like I mean isn’t the idea of committing such an act enticing to feel what should not be felt, to see what should not be seen. To hear what should not be heard. Crossing over into another world that is not yours, but can be…that is if you take the step. As they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Have your all felt the urge to just scream because you wanted to. Well what if you couldn't do all those things. For they are inappropriate or wrong. Living like a machine, programmed to do one thing ad that is to obey. What if you were your own obstacle, your own suppressant. You've said things that you wish you had not, out of fear of saying the things you wish you had. Now at breaking point. You want to escape from this life and enter a new. Breaking free from yourself. Taking that much awaited breath. Doing the things you'd always wanted. Saying goodbye to repression and embracing freedom. However, how much freedom can on take only to be living in a new kind of repression, after all we are but human and we are flawed. To answer the question why not take the journey of self discovery through someone else's eyes and make them your own. Thank you and Take Care. Nada
