Wed, 27 June 2007, 09:15 pm
Renegade Production Company is proud to announce its inaugural show, an adaptation of "Salome" by Oscar Wilde, to be performed at the Nexus Theater of Murdoch University from july 11th - 14th at 8pm each night. Tickets are available to book via email at renegadeproductioncompany@gmail.com, and are also available at the door. Renegade Productions puts on high quality shows, exploring the boundaries between theatre and performance, as well as keeping a solid focus on the design aspects of the shows. In the rehearsal studio, the process is ensemble based, pooling the talents of everyone involved, while maintaining a consistent overall direction. Previous forays have included public performance art displays as well as theatrical shows, and future projects include street theatre and installations, as well as more traditional theatre shows. Salome, Renegade Production's current project, is a retelling of a biblical tale by Oscar Wilde. When it was first performed, it caused widespread controversy due to the radical handling of the original biblical material. The current production seeks to re-frame and adapt this lasting parable of lust and decadence into a more modern context, dealing with issues of our 21st century desire for machines, as well as the original ideas of desiccated beauty and forbidden love. Like all Renegade Production shows, Salome is in many respects an ensemble collaboration, and will involve surrealism, performance art and dance as well as traditional, realist forms of acting. The set and costume design is expressionistic and abstract, as is the lighting and original soundtrack. We make beautiful things because it's what we live for. If you want more information email this address and we'll answer any questions.
