HEY EVERYONE! My name's Tom Noble, a 19 yr old New Zealander (yeah I know),and i'm looking to enroll into an Australian Theatre School in 2008 to continue my training. I've been acting for a number of years, including High School, and spent 2006 at a performing arts school in the UK, tutoring 13-14yr olds in basic stage acting as well as working as a lighting/sound technician in the schools onsite Theatre. Now! My quandry is that I would like to continue my study in Australia, BUT so far have been unable to find a course that will cover both Acting Training, Stage Management and Technical/Production training under the same degree/course. If anyone out there could point me in the right direction of what schools to look into or the right people to talk to, or general advice on what to do, I would be extremely grateful. My email address is tom_noble87@hotmail.com or napoleonkiwi@gmail.com many thanks yours sincerly Tom Noble

Actually there are plenty of these types of courses. They are TAFE courses, and are nationally recognised (the same basic course, taught in a number of places). The two I know of are at Swinburne Uni and NMIT in Melbourne. They both offer core acting and core technical, and then in semester projects you can choose to do either acting or tech. I did Swinburne, and it is a very good course. I'm not sure of the courses in the other states, but I know they exist.
