The Pacific War Audition

If  your talking about The Pacific War, casting for this is currently being held for males (soldiers) only, applications need to be in hard format (no electronic applications) with 1 8 x 10 headshot.  The roles that are being cast at present require an American accent and there are lots of dialect teachers that I am sure are busy.  I have been advised to recommend that if you are intending on apply that you should book a class prior to sending your applications as once you are contacted the audition is usually set within 3 days, which is not enough time to train for this.  Full details are on Dare 2 Audition on Casting board 1, and once information regarding other roles come to hand they will also be available. Apparently, there will be various accents required, (english, US & Australian) for other roles eg. nurses, doctors, entertainers of the troops. Register at www.dare2audition.com.au for contact and application details.

Paul how long did it take to get an audition once you applied? Did  you get this through Dare 2 Audition or your agent? Thanks Helen (send me a private message at the site as I am interested in how you went, my new nickname is D2Admin)

More audition details?

Hey Paul, I'd love to hear more about how your audition went and how you got it too... Sounds like it'd be a great project to work on. Cheers

The Pacific

My agent got me the audition. I had a sit down with Christine's associate and then had it confirmed once we had a chat about the project. The audition went well from my side. I did my homework, had my accent down (it was good to head from the CD that "i can see youve done your homework"). Apart from that it was a bit airy being told to give it a month. But i suspect that now the series has been confirmed there will be a bit more certainty and finalisation concerning the roles. Why would you bother with call backs when you still have not decided on location? But as with anything once its done, "theyuhh aint nuthin y'all can do" (in authentic southern accent). At this stage id say they would have definately done first round auditions, given that i went in the third week and that was about a month ago. And no i didnt get it off D2A. Paul Mclaughlin.

Hey Paul,

Hey Paul, Was that Christine's associate Kate? I've been thinking about getting in touch with her. I don't have an agent of my own so it may be best for me to introduce myself. I did a fair bit of research myself - bought Leckie and Sledge's books, found the excerpt for the Leckie audition, recorded myself acting it out with the help of a few friends, put it together professionally and sent it off. Within a few days I had a call from the Core and Special Abilities Extras dept. I've just had callbacks for the "Military Core" extras - apparently they'll be doing casting for minor roles from this group, but it's basically just the core group of extras present during the whole series. I'm thinking that this is as big a part as I'll get - I haven't done any paid acting which is why Christine would've passed my details to the Core Extras I'd say. But I'd be stoked at the opportunity to audition - I think they're just starting to do it down here in Melbourne now.

Hi Dylan, Paul,great

Hi Dylan, Paul, great information. I live in Melbourne too and am checking things out. best i can contribute is: - I thought Christine worked with Trish (just a guess). - there should be 1 episode devoted to Melbourne (Vic Barracks) so perhaps one or more (out of 200?) Aussie accents anyway??? Dylan, - how did you get hold of excerpt for the Leckie audition? - My research is pointing to Maura Fay for extras, but just another guess again! Hi Chris,

Hi Chris, Trish McAskill used to work directly with Chris but she now has her own Agency - RGM? - that she runs. That's my impression. Chris' assistant is a Kate Barratt. Trish and Chris still keep close ties, that I know. There is an episode(s?) where the Marines go to Melbourne for a break. Plenty of Aussie extras needed for that I'm sure! I don't know who's handling the extras casting, I just contacted Chris directly. Chris, I did a LOT of hunting for the excerpt, and ended up having to pay for it (among other things). Being resourceful pays off quite well - to the point where I have professional actors with agents asking me details. Doesn't do me much good when I still haven't gotten to audition for an actual role!

Pacific War Casting

Paul, I just realised that you are not a subscriber on D2A and therefore wouldnt have had access to the Casting board that the Pacific is posted on, as we have 2 levels of membership. Most of the extra's (soldiers) have already had their 1st & some a 2nd audition but there are lots more roles coming up. Paul was submitted via his agent but lots of members on D2A (Dare 2 Audition) have auditioned by applying from our Casting board (1) details for other roles for The Pacific will be posted once further details come to hand. Also congratulations to dancer for landing the role in Hellflower.

Hi Peter, From what I've

Hi Peter, From what I've heard about the auditions, they are still casting (I could be wrong, my last info about it was a couple of weeks ago). However, it sounds as if that getting an agent is your best bet; read the above posts for hints on how everyone else did it. Perhaps try contacting any of the people who said they got an audition, or, contacting the people who they said they talked to about gaining one. Update for pacific war

Dare 2 Audition logo

Due to the constant questions on Dare2Audition regarding the Pacific and the posts I have seen here there are many unrepresented actors that would like to apply for extras roles in this production.  Without breaking strict privacy rules that the production requires, I will inform you that their is still much more casting to be done throughout the production.  Only males (QLD) are being cast at present but female roles will be cast from Melbourne later in the year. Kate has advised me that the only way to apply if you are a freelance performer is from the contact details that Dare 2 Audition have on their subscribers casting board no 1 (not on board 2), a member that has landed a part and members that have applied have been advised that their applications have been received and casting will continue throughout the production as more actors are required, but to forward your applications but dont expect an audition until later in the year.  More details are posted at the site.

From the 1st of July Dare2Audition will have a new format and all auditions will be in once central area instead of throught the site and on 2 casting boards, with a search by city feature being added soon after.  We have updated the profiles so they have a much more professional format and allow 5 images & a showreel. We have also upgraded the format to allow for the agents that have now joined our system so they can manage their talent from the site and offer auditions to freelance actors, actors can also promote themselves as looking for representation so agents can search the database for all freelance actors when looking for new talent to represent.  There are many new features and although we do still have a free level of membership, paid auditions requires paid membership which includes sms for urgent castings, show reel hosting, 5 images, discounted headshots, show reels, theatre tickets, acting courses, filmmaking courses with reputable companies that we negotiate substantial discounts with for our members.

All actors are welcome to add a profile/CV/resume to our Talent search system but headshots must be professional quality in jpg max 150 x200 pixels 50kb maximum, the more details on your profile the more chance you have of being matched when the site is used to search for talent. There is no charge for this and once your agent has a profile in the system they can accept all enquiries if you prefer as the system will link you to your agent so they can manage your audition applications from the site. You can elect to have a private profile or allow all users & visitors of the site to access your profile (no personal contact details are ever provided or viewed from your profile-all contact via either our private message or instant message facility.
