Stage Combat Masterclasses
Sat, 17 Feb 2007, 12:04 pmHello Everyone,
This is just a note to inform you of the forthcoming Stage
Combat Masterclasses that I am offering.
They are a continuation of the Monthly Masterclasses that ran towards
the end of last year. Both workshops are one-off sessions with no
previous experience necessary. They are taking place at the Old
Masonic Hall, Broadway, Nedlands, WA. from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The fee is
$15, or, if you book for both, then $20 for the pair. Bookings are
essential and can be made by ringing me on 0417-980-366 or by e-mailing
stagecombatperth@yahoo.com.au
The workshops are:
Wednesday, March 7, FOUND WEAPONS
An exploration of using objects that wouldn't normally be used as
weapons, but could be, given the right dramatic context. Participants
will need to bring their own object from home. It must be durable enough
to withstand a bit of bashing, and should be free of elements such
as glass, sharp edges, etc. The more removed from being a weapon, the
better. In other words, a kitchen knife is too small a leap and nowhere
near as interesting as a wash basket.
Wednesday, April 4, FIGHT CHARACTERISATION
An exploration of making sure that the character you're playing is
clearly seen through the execution of the choreography, and that the
choices you make for your character in the fight are informed ones.
We all know that Tybalt is a different type of fighter to Sir Andrew
Aguecheek, but HOW is that difference physicalised? Through a small
matrix I have created, we examine using Unarmed Combat, how an actor
can approach their fight scene in this context.
If you need more info, please feel free to contact via the details
above. Otherwise, I hope to see you then!
Happy Swashbuckling!
