A NEW COMEDY PLAY FOR 2007!
MAY 18, MAY 25,
JUNE 1st. 2007
VENUE: THE WOODBIN THEATRE, GEELONG!
It’s a fact of life that people get utterly obsessed with trivial things. It’s also a fact that instead of stopping their silly behaviour, people try to hide and cover up their silly obsessions with all manner of lies and deceptions.
When Harry Ainley’s wife wants a Divorce, he is forced to turn to long-suffering friend Ed, and the self-proclaimed wise-man Lenny, for guidance and a place to stay. And a pretty lady Lawyer for help!
But when his wife decides she wants half of all the assets, Harry makes up his mind: she’s not getting the Fernery! The home-made Fernery that Harry built with his own two hands! He wants that at all costs!
You just know it's all going to end in chaos!

Naked in the Fernery details.
This play is on 8PM Friday May 18, Friday May 25 and Friday June 1 at the Woodbin, Coronation St Geelong. All tickets are $12 and it's the premiere of a totally new, original play. It's also very funny if the rehearsals are any indication!

Naked went over huge! Big laughs and plenty of 'em!
Naked in the Fernery had its debut performance at
Geelong West's Woodbin Theatre tonight (Friday, May 18) and it went over really, really well.
It was HUGE!
The moment Robert Trott (star of the hugely succesful
GRUMPY OLD MEN show, produced by Colin Mocket) came
on as Harry and explained why his wife had turfed him out,
the laughs started and they just kept going for the whole length of the show.
The audience in attendence was not huge, but the laughs
and atmosphere was so whole-hearted, you'd swear it
was a full house.
At one point there was an audible reaction from a
member of the audience as Robert's character voiced
an opinion about lesbians. It was meant to highlight
his character's ignorance about the subject, and I feel this soon became clear.
Men and their attitudes, their hypocrisies, hang-ups and obsessions were are the target of much of the writing.
One audience member later remarked to me that some of the stuff was so real to life, it felt like it was taken from her own living room.
In the end, I feel the audience who saw the play took it in the way in which was intended,as a humorous, yet sympathetic insight into the minds of Divorced middle aged men, and a chance to laugh at the absurd and sometimes ridiculous ideas, attitudes and obsessions which come into the male mind and lead them to say and do some of the crazy things they do.
As the playwright as well as director, I was very pleased with my cast and deeply grateful to have such a positive and happy reaction from the audience. I set out to entertain and make people laugh, and the laughs were huge, so in that respect, I am feeling very pleased.
It was scary for me to face the audience after the show, I was afraid they might think I was supporting some of the attitudes which the characters expressed, but in the end, I got the impression everyone was very happy and had had a terrific time.
At the end of the night everyone was smiling and that's what counts!
Naked in the Fernery continues for two more performances the The Woodbin Geelong on Friday May 25 and Friday June 1. Tickets can be booked on 52428129 or bought at the door on the night. Show starts at 8PM. We'd love to see you there!
