We are currently casting a short film being produced by Murdoch University students in their final year of Film. Although we are students, most of us have had vast experience on various projects and are able to maintain professional standards in filmmaking. The film in question is 'The Tryst', a story of two ordinary people brought together by an extraordinary event. After rescuing a man from a botched suicide bombing, Manuel Vidal finds himself sitting alone in the intensive care wing of the city hospital, watching over the comatose victim. It is here that he meets Mayalla, a young nurse with a work routine as soul-crushingly monotonous as Manuel’s own. As they spend the night together an unusual bond is formed between them as more and more commonalities and parallels between their two lives are uncovered. We are aiming for this film to go to festival, and need the following cast: Manuel (late 20s/early 30s), main character Mayalla (late 20s/early 30s), main character Shavo (Middle aged, 30s/40s), main character Natale (can be anywhere from 20s to 40s), supporting role Graham (50+, beard preferable, must be able to cry on cue), non-speaking role, but important. We are also looking for the following secondary non-speaking roles/extras: An elderly man (60+) to lay in a hospital bed A pregnant woman (20s-30s) to sit in a hospital Paramedics (any age or gender) to carry Shavo into hospital on a stretcher Various extras to sit in a movie theatre. Shooting shall take place between March and May in various places around Perth. Auditions will be organised on request. If you are interested in reading the script/auditioning, please email the producer, Elinor King, at trystfilm@gmail.com. Auditions will close on the 28th of February 2007. Anyone who doesn't live in Western Australia need not apply (sorry to state the obvious, but people have applied from the Eastern States before...) Thanks and we hope to hear from you!
