Theatre Courses in SA

Flinders Uni has both it's Drama Centre Intensive Straight Acting Course 3 yr BA and an academic BA in Drama. UniSA has a Drama teachers Course and there is Certificate Courses at the Adelaide Centre for the Arts at the Roma Mitchell centre. email: acarts@tafesasouth.org Don't forget there is also a drama course at University of Tasmania in Launceston. They have a lovely little theatre there. No MT courses in SA or TAS Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au

Swinburne, Deakin, Monash

Swinburne, Deakin, Monash Uni, NMIT. If you want the whole list, visit Drama Australia (Google - they will also list their branches for all the states, which will have better info related to that state), which is a national theatre education organisation. Don't forget that there are also other course that are more defined, such as NICA in Melbourne for those clowning/circus people, and VCA does puppetry. There's plenty of courses, so do check out Drama Australia. Notre Dame - Freo

I've managed a spot at the Notre Dame course - I'll let you know how it goes if you're interested. There will always be alternatives. Murdoch has a pretty good course "BA Theatre Studies" (off the top of my head) is it's official title. ~ Tari The Writer is a child forever listening at the keyhole of the adult world.

I believe she's referring

I believe she's referring to the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle campus, in WA. More info at www.nd.edu.au - it also has campuses in Broome and Sydney.

There is also the

There is also the Contemporay Performance Course run thru Edith Cowan Uni run by the School of Communication and Contempoary Arts. Its a BA, its not a Wappa course, its an actual degree from the uni.

Fremantle

Notre Dame has 2 WA campuses and 1 campus in Sydney. But yes the ones in the US are sister campuses. So I'm off to the Notre Dame campus in Fremantle - the only one in WA that does secondary education. ~ Tari The Writer is a child forever listening at the keyhole of the adult world.

Hi TRB... thanks for

Hi TRB... thanks for asking My girl's about to return for her second year at Mackay. She is enjoying the course and rates it highly. We're both pleased with the number of opportunities she gets to perform and the 'practical nature' of the course. (she had deferred a couple of other PA courses but has decided to stay at Mackay) The course doesn't seem to have a very public profile but I was impressed with the links the staff and directors have with the industry. The theory side has been pleasing too. I must admit I still wonder if the better option is to get out there and 'audition and audition and audition' but my daughter wanted to get a degree behind her and spend more time honing her skills. On a personal note she got to play Audrey in their production of 'Little Shop of Horrors' which has always been one of the roles she's wanted to play... and came back with distinctions in all subjects (Stage Dad Mode off) We're happy and she's happy... cost is a bit of an issue as she gets no youth allowance etc ....staying interstate becomes expensive but on the other hand I get to go to Queensland to visit :-) She's been working over the holidays to get money and has a paid gig on Australia day... which all helps We'd recommend the course
