'Tapir' is a poetically stylised short drama about a 12 year old, Billy, who wants to get rid of his abusive dad, but must overcome his insecurity and low self esteem to stand up to his intimidating dad. we are looking for volunteer actors to play: Renee (Billy's mother) 25-35 y.o. A mother of a 12 year old at 25?? She had Billy at 13?? Why does film and TV always cast mothers as young and fathers as older? If the age group for the father is 30-45 - it should be the same for the mother! Sorry, I am just getting sick of this false representation of mothers in our media.

Hear! Hear! I heartily agree with you - can we blame the Americans for this trend? They use what appears to be actresses in their 20's to be mothers to other 20 year olds - oh, and they have to all have big boobs too... Oh, and face lifts... and designer clothes... and no bottoms... and somewhere along the line, since having their first child at 10, 12 or 13 years of age, they all manage to get Uni degrees and land executive jobs! Or they all meet and marry men who can have any job but still afford a fancy 2 storey house with nice furniture and all their kids have good educations... or maybe A Mother (not verified) and I have been kidnapped by aliens and we are actually no longer on earth - which would explain a lot of strange things! :)
