Writer/Director Lis Hoffman will hold auditions for the roles of "Clive" and "Jerry" in her play "Ordinary Blokes" this Friday 22nd September at the Australian Writers' Guild, 196 Oxford St, Leederville. Interested actors, please contact Lis on 0402 697 123 for a script and appointment. Season dates for this one act play (part of a 3 play programme) are as follows (7 performances in all): Tuesday October 24th - Preview Wednesday October 25th - Performance Sunday October 29th 2.30 - 4.30 - Matinee Tuesday October 31st to Friday November 3rd inclusive - Performance Characters to be cast are Clive and Jerry. The other 2 characters have already been cast and will be played by professional actors. CLIVE, 30’s overweight, longterm unemployed. He’s a plain man with a good sense of humour and a nature at odds with his bikie physique. Clive represents a different kind of bloke, a man with an active feminine component to his psyche, a man with more capacity for reflection than his father or brother. He’s a lonely man, longing for the connection that life has denied him. That he has denied himself. JERRY 30, a sparkly eyed Aussie charmer, a once successful footballer on the come back trail yet again, a man whose identity is totally caught up in the camaraderie of the team and all it represents. His prospective retirement after three knee operations is an awful gaping void inside him that he cannot bear to face. Jerry struggles internally with what he knows to be the truth about his life. But he cannot admit his fears in case they overwhelm him. Pocket Theatre's website is at www.naturliq.com.au/pockettheatre and this will be a co-operative production.
