Actors required for Short & Sweet Playreadings - Sydney Graduates of the 2006 Short & Sweet Playwriting Course will be presenting the plays they have written in the course this Saturday May 6th and Sunday May 7th at the Newtown Theatre in Sydney. Actors are required to perform in the moved play readings. The purpose of the readings is for the writers to see their work performed on stage as moved readings, receive feedback and then take their work on to a future stage of development. You may read on either Saturday May 6th or Sunday May 7th or both days. Times you would be required are as follows: Saturday May 6th 10am-3pm: Rehearsal of plays (You must be there promptly at 10am to be cast in plays) 4pm: Performance of plays rehearsed that day as moved readings at Newtown Theatre 6pm: Performance concludes Sunday May 7th 10am-3pm: Rehearsal of plays (You must be there promptly at 10am to be cast in plays) 6pm: Performance of plays rehearsed that day as moved readings at Newtown Theatre 8pm: Performance concludes The venue for both days is: Newtown Theatre, Corner King and Bray Streets, Newtown South. (100 metres north of St Peters Station) (PLEASE NOTE: This is not the New Theatre. It is about 200 metres further down the road from the New Theatre towards St Peters.) Ten 10 minute plays will be performed each day. ALL actors who attend will be given roles. Actors of both sexes and all ages are required from 16-70. This is a great opportunity to work on new Australian writing, work directly with new writers and sharpen (or refresh) your skills in a performance environment. There will be some very good plays read on the day with some great roles. A number of the plays written in the course last year went on to be performed in Melbourne Short & Sweet 2005 and Sydney Short & Sweet 2006 – and no doubt this will be the case this year. Remember whichever day(s) you decide to come you will need to be available for both the rehearsal and the performance on that day(s).
