What's the Point?

Please, don't feel the need to respond here - I'm pretty much just venting and this seems the most appropriate place to do it ;)
Okay, so you read a review of your piece of theatre and there's something in that review that you don't like. The reviewer has clearly stated "this is only my opinion" ad nauseum and has said the show was great in general. Why feel the need to jump on that reviewer and basically tell them that you think their opinion is laughable?? If you think it's laughable, why not just laugh at it and let it go? Sigh... I speak of course about the Beauty and the Beast review thread and the review I posted. The review I only posted because I was asked to by one of the production team involved in the show. I didn't even say that the particular bit I was critiquing was bad, I simply said I didn't understand the choreographers choice and gave my reasons for why it didn't make sense to me. And yet, one of the performers felt the need to add their two cents and explain why. Fair enough. I still don't agree with the reasoning, but then I am only one person right? But for the cast member to add (and I quote) "I know its only your "opinion" but one can't help but laugh at the way some people think... and then they put it in writing... on the web!" is a little on the hypocritical side...
And then some other people have come back in my defense, for which I thank them, but experience tells me that responding in this type of instance does nothing to placate the offended individual. It just fires them up more - as shown by their none-to-pleasant response to one of my defenders. I mean, I had written a reply explaining myself, but then I figured "What's the point?" and edited it away.
On the off chance that Wolf No. 2 reads this blog (although I doubt it) - I did not intend to offend; I wrote in the most constructive way I know how; and like you yourself said - it's just my opinion.
Really, What's the point?
