To be successful you need more strings to your bow.

The vision for The Actor's Pulse has always been something that goes beyond the craft of acting.
Without a craft for acting, surviving the industry would be close to impossible, if not impossible for the majority of us. However, what Billy Milionis has always believed and has passed on to his students, is that craft alone is not enough. As it is in any business; there are many things that go into making a successful career.
We developed the Pulse's new Creative Industry Development course to introduce students to the industry, not only from a craft point of view, but also from a business point of view. We also wanted to incorporate the foundation of what we teach at The Actor’s Pulse and put to use the skills our students were already developing, and/or needed to develop in order to build and sustain a career. It’s important to recognise that we are not just actors; we are part of a larger picture and network of people. We contribute to a collaboration of works for which many, many skills are required, in order to create what we believe can reach people everywhere. Becoming aware of how films and television shows are made and then distributed to audiences, is valuable for actors. Because it is the business we are in. When you understand what business you are in, you become a workable actor. You do to serve the larger picture – which is ultimately reaching an audience through – hopefully – great storytelling.
Developing an original Short Film from concept to the screen for audiences both nationally and internationally, is the challenge our Creative Industry Development students have been given.
For each of them, this is the first independent film, of which they have been a part of creating and they’re currently in the pre-production stages. The students have all been pushing their boundaries; they’ve collaborated to come up with their own concepts, develop their own screenplays, plan their financing, source materials for production and soon they’ll be shooting on location. It is the first project of its kind that The Actor’s Pulse has produced and we are pretty excited to see where it all will lead us, not only for the students involved, but also for the development of the school’s Production Department.
We will be keeping you up-to-date on the progress of the course and the films being made, and we look forward to seeing you all when we preview each film!
