For the first time ever, the internationally renowned Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company is coming to Australia. Direct from a critically acclaimed sell-out tour of the UK, Britain's oldest opera company will perform Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular musical, The Mikado at the Regal Theatre.
This new production of The Mikado is a magnificent rendition of the original authorised Savoy production of 1885, as directed by W.S.Gilbert himself. The production boasts an all UK opera cast and chorus with full orchestra featuring lavish sets and costumes from the Academy Award-Winning Mike Leigh film Tospy Turvy. Peter Ellis, best known to Australian audiences the Thames television series The Bill will star in the role of The Mikado.
