THE CLOCK IS TICKINGÂ…
Before he wrote RENT, Jonathan Larson was performing an autobiographical one –man cabaret show Off-Off-Broadway about what it was like to be a frustrated musical theatre composer. This show was Tick, Tick… BOOM! And five years after Larson’s meteoric success and sudden death the show was resurrected by his family and friends.
Now a three-person musical, Tick, Tick… BOOM! Tells the story of Jon, on the verge of turning thirty and struggling to fulfil his dreams of writing the “Hair of the 90s” which Larson himself did with RENT. Jon’s girlfriend Susan wants to get away and move to Cape Cod, while his best friend Michael has moved on from adolescent dreams and his making big money on wall street.
Largely based on LarsonÂ’s own life, Tick, TickÂ… BOOM! is a witty and thoughtful story of the courage it takes to follow your dreams, with all the musical flair and excitement that Jonathan Larson is rightly remembered.
Starring Gerry Harkins, Erica Willmott and Matthew Withers.
