AddressThe Imperial Hotel, Erskineville
This March, Casting Couch Productions presents a new Australian play about love, relationships, a stuffed dog (named Mojo) and the many dramas that all three provide.
Girlfriend #33 Stole My Mojo premières at the iconic Imperial Hotel in Erskineville – a venue that last housed theatre in 2003 with the extremely successful Balm In Gilead.
Written by Greg Eccleston, Girlfriend #33 Stole My Mojo follows Tom through his meetings with his new Life Coach & we watch him recount all 33 of his girlfriends (starting with his first in kindergarten) & attempts to find his missing Mojo. From the tragic to the hilarious, from the farcical to the sublime, the tales bring a smile to your face and a touch of refreshment to Australian independent theatre.
“We are constantly baffled by the fact that we make the same mistakes time and time again when it comes to relationships, but we go ahead and make the same mistakes and never really examine it,” Eccleston, who is also directing the production, said. “In this play, we see what happens when our hero -- a serial monogamist -- examines his behaviour”.
Girlfriend #33 Stole My Mojo follows Casting Couch ProductionsÂ’ successful production of the comedy Lovepuke @ TAP Gallery in November 2004. The company has also produced sell-out plays such as In No Particular Order and Catharsis.
Featuring 55 characters and a cast of 14 (2 male + 12 female), the play features some of the brightest young faces in Australian theatre and has been three years in the making.
Girlfriend #33 Stole My Mojo stars Jeffrey Prewett, Bruno Xavier, Albany Dighton, Adrienne Bates, Suzanne Ellis, Jillian Webber, Nicolette Kenny, Justine Rayleigh, Petrina Edge, Belinda Gosbee, Tarsha Carvey, Renee Lim, Amanda Norton & Sarah Robinson
The play opens @ The Imperial Hotel in Erskineville on 8 March.
