Holiday In The Sun, a new stage production by critically acclaimed writer Sean O'Riordan, opens at the Sidetrack Theatre in Marrickville on October 24 for an extremely limited season.

Holiday in the sun is a black comedy of a ghostly revenge that explores the concept of time, memory and identity as dark deeds of the past come back to haunt two friends in a lonely deserted beach house.

This modern contemporary production reunites two old school friends: Bretta (Deborah Jones) and Holly (Lisa Scope), who together experience issues from their haunting past. Igniting memories and conflicts, imagination and fears, this captivating play skips through and around time as it rekindles friendships in this life and the next.

Bretta becomes haunted with visions of an erupting dark storm, which creates a repeated image of a girl that she thought she had killed. This sets the scene for these two characters making their nerves stretch to breaking point.

This work is OÂ’Riordan's sixth play since 1996 and follows notable success with Mixed Drinks (2002 & 2003), touted by the Sydney Morning Herald as "one of the best new Australian works of 2002" and MR TV (2000), which Drum Media magazine stated was like "Roald Dahl meets Ben Elton". O'Riordan also wrote The Shakespeare Detective (Sydney Theatre Company 1998 & 1999).
