4x20 Call for Submissions - 2003

4x20 - a theatrical production consisting of four original 20-minute works - is part of the core program of Theatre 4a, an initiative of the Asian Australian Artists Association (4a). Theatre 4aÂ’s mission is to foster a national forum for excellence, innovation and access to living Asian-Australian cultures 4x20, we are now calling for the submission of scripts for the 2004 season.

4x20 provides a culturally rich environment for the creation of unique, innovative and contemporary Asian-Australian theatre, through collaboration with professional dramaturges, directors, actors and designers.

The 2002 production of 4x20 brought together artists and stories from Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam and Australia, in a production that successfully combined Musical Comedy, Movement Theatre, Cabaret and Narrative. The audience response was tremendous. The project was funded by the Australia Council and our sponsor, James Fairfax.


The submission details for 4x20 2004 are as follows:-

Closing Date: Dec 1, 2003

· Submitted scripts should reflect Theatre 4aÂ’s mission as stated above
· This call for submissions is open to all Australian citizens and permanent residents (maximum 1 submission per playwright)
· Theatre 4a shall have the first exclusive option to produce the selected works in Australia for a period to be negotiated

Up to four scripts will be selected for production in 4x20 2004, in a complementary and exciting theatrical program.
