A third year production.
"Somebody once said love knows no barrier. I would like to add, neither does racism."
So wrote the playwright in his programme note for the first production of In Our Town. Love is at the centre of this drama, as two young men return from fighting side-by-side in the Second World War but discover that their close friendship cannot be maintained in peacetime.
The status quo is changing and the people of their town feel threatened. Racism flares when David, a hero in war, falls in love with Sue, a white woman.
