"you gotta be like a rock'n'roll Jesus with a Cowboy Mouth."

Hook in Eye Productions proudly presents a new version of Sam Shepard and Patti Smith's play about love, desperation and the search for a new saviour. Director Michelle Sowden has collaborated with east-coast performers Eden Falk and Anna Houston, local band Radarmaker, costume designer Kate MacFarlane & stage manager Philippa Maughan to create a new interpretation of Cowboy Mouth, recontextualized within the setting of perth's own bastion of rock'n'roll - the Hyde Park Hotel. Featuring a live score by one of Perth's favourite atmospheric indie bands and two of the country's most exciting emerging actors, Cowboy Mouth is set to rock the Hydie in a fahion never before witnessed, with its funny, tender & savage invocation of roadside philosophy, desert-soaked nostalgia and rock'n'roll mythology.

After each performance, the Hydie will once again transform into a live music venue, as local indie and rock bands reclaim the stage. On Tuesday the 17th Radarmaker and Lucy was a Decoy treat their audience to an indie rock night of delight; on Thursday the 19th Trash Band 1987, 7 Day Weekend and Tomas Ford's Cabaret of Death celebrate the collision of spoken word, art and music; and on Friday 20th be prepared for some pure rock action as Loyola, Black Milk, Sugar Army and The Jacknives pump out power chords and pure adrenaline. And even better, starting at 9pm, entry to the post-Cowboy Mouth extravanganza is free!
