Arsenic & Old Lace
Bendigo Theatre Company Wave Theatre will present Arsenic and Old Lace for their Easter 2001 production. This will be the fourth year that we have contributed a theatrical component to the Easter Fair and the popularity of these productions increases each year.
This play is one of the first and funniest comedies of multiple murder. It was the play that put black comedy well and truly back on the theatrical map. It tells the story of two charming and gentle old ladies who poison poor, elderly gentlemen in order to save them from the sorrows of the world. It is an inspired and delightful comic concoction which combines the cosy charm and ingenious plotting of an Agatha Christie whodunnit with a much sharper satirical perspective.
