Details
Altona City Theatre proudly presents Jack and the Beanstalk - a musical pantomime.
Jack and the Beanstalk takes place in a small market town, the inhabitants of which live in the debt of an evil Giant who resides in his castle above the clouds.
When the Giant unexpectedly doubles the land tax only hours before it's due, the townspeople make plans to raise their funds through the market fair. The threat of being forced to forfeit their goods, or perhaps even their lives hangs heavily over their heads as they scramble to come up with the cash.
Faced with being unable to meet the Giant's deadline, the brave Jack Durden and his family are forced to sell the family cow, Daisy, to a man for a bag of gold. Hurrying home to show his mother the gold they are horrified to find that the gold has turned into a bag of beans!
With the help of a magical fairy, Jack sets off on an adventure above the clouds to rescue his lover, Miranda, Daisy the cow, and a bevy of precious items that have been stolen from the town - with his brother, Simon, the Dame and the town Squire in tow.
Can Jack lead his people into finally putting a stop to the Evil Giant and save his town from inevitable destitution?
Jack and the Beanstalk is a traditional family show, with plenty of songs and jokes for young children (and enough for older audiences to laugh at too!). It's a fantastic way spend an afternoon or evening, with special cast meet & greet opportunities after each matinee performance.
