“The Creation" #94
Mid 1976
The final item, a dance drama, "The Creation", devised by Harry Postema, had as a footnote to the title the following piece of profound philosophy, "we sleep, talk breathe, excrete and then die". In the opening sequence, the dancers were clad in cheese cloth, which to quote 'Pooh Bab' resembled 'globules of primordial slime', which was appropriate as life is said to originate in the sea. However by manipulating the cyclorama in time with the accompanying music an ecrue and dramatic effect was achieved. The sound track included quotations from
Mahatama Ghandi and Guossoss Pappadopoulis, whoever he may be, (knowing Harry's sense of humour, he probably keeps a fish and chip shop down the Port Road), if not I hereby reveal my abysmal ignorance. By and large a successful presentation with a mammoth cast.
