Harbour Theatre, Fremantle's only and original community theatre for 50 years, is proud to present for our final production for our Golden Jubilee Year, "Ghost Writer" by David Tristram and directed by Nicola Bond and Peter Kirkwood. Being dead has never been so funny! Bringing together a great ensemble, Harbour Theatre and award winning directors Peter Kirkwood and Nicola Bond have teamed up for GHOST WRITER, a comedy “whodunit” by David Tristram, author of The Secret Lives of Henry and Alice and The Opposite Sex. Edward Pinfold (played by Jarrod Buttery) was once a promising young playwright. Since the tragic death a year ago of his actress wife, Ruby (Meredith Hunter), he has lost the ability to write. In fact, he has lost the ability to do almost anything but drink. Unable to face the emptiness of his own home, he has moved into the attic room of one of his oldest actor friends, Alex (Andy Markland). To find out what really happened the fateful night that Ruby died, Edward must reunite with Ruby’s old acting colleagues, Hedley (Norm Heath) and Frances (Ann Speicher) while his best friend Alex looks on in bemusement, and potential love interest Glenda (Grace Hitchin) gets progressively drunk. What happens next is a bit hard to swallow... and certainly uproariously funny. We join the story on the first anniversary of Ruby’s death. A night of surprises, revelations, ghostly apparitions and unexpected creativity lies ahead. Peter Kirkwood, Best Director award winner says “This play is not just funny, it is hilarious. The comedy lies in the skill and comic timing of the actors as the pace is fast and furious whilst still allowing the audience to absorb the comedy. The roles are challenging, however the experience of our cast will ensure that the show is one of the funniest , if not the funniest show you will have seen all year!”. Best Actress award winner and co-director Nicola Bond is delighted to be once again collaborating with Peter Kirkwood in this fast-paced, clever comedy “whodunit”. “The play has shades of Faust and Blithe Spirit running through it,” she says, “outrageous laughs, spooky characters and sinister secrets all combine to make this a comedy thriller of the highest quality. There is nothing quite like a good ghost story to start the Festive season and to celebrate the end of our 50th Anniversary year!”.
