'O brave new world, That has such people in't!'
A crash of waves, the creaking timber of a separating ship, the screams of terrified passengers... yet not a single life is lost. A mysterious island confronts our castaways - an island that is home to love, magic and revenge.
For their second production, 'The Revellers' bring Shakespeare's final message to the world; one of forgiveness. Set in an environment of paranoia, 'The Tempest' sees its characters thrown into a world where nothing is as it seems. This is a place where wild spirits and strange creatures roam, and the usurped Duke of Milan controls all. Seeking retribution from those who banished him to the island, Prospero uses his power to influence the elements, sprites and spirits, castaways and creatures alike, seeking vengeance towards those who conspired against him, and revenge upon the castaways.
This production of 'The Tempest' is a highly stylised version of Shakespeare's dark comedy. It is fast-paced, energetic and educational, aiming to highlight the consequences of characters' choices, focusing specifically upon empathy and forgiveness. This production of The Tempest is accessible for all ages, and its season runs from 21st September to the 29th September 2012.
