Come and spend Christmas with Harry!
This Christmas TRS are delighted to invite you to spend Christmas with us at the Old Fitzroy Theatre.
TRS Artistic Director Leland Kean (This Blasted Earth – A Christmas Miracle with Music, Cu*t Pi) and Iain Sinclair (Hurlyburly, My Arm) join forces to present Steven Berkoff’s wonderful Christmas gift Harry’s Christmas.
For many people Christmas is a time for being with family and friends to enjoy food, drinks and gifts, others experience feelings of isolation and lonliness. In the latter group is Harry. He is a single man near the edge, starved for love in the face of another lonely ChristmasÂ…and heÂ’s running low on jokes.
In his sad apartment in the week leading up to Christmas Day, Harry argues with his wiser alter ego to find meaning in his life and to understand where it went wrong. Past memories flood back, bringing with them the joys and heartaches of lost loves and the distant memory of belonging.
In a remount of this powerful show, Iain Sinclair revisits the role that won him a Canberra Critics Circle award in 2003. HarryÂ’s Christmas will leave audiences breathless with laughter and stunned by its honesty and poignancy.
Â…Iain Sinclair's performance in Steven Berkoff's one-act play, Harry's Christmas makes a visit a must. Sinclair's Harry is a tour de force, switching from bold confrontation with his mirror image to a quivering relic of fear and loneliness. This is a performance of sheer pathos, wrapped in desperate hope, set against the cruel backdrop of a desolate Christmas.
