From the company that brought you WALTZING THE WILARRA comes the return season of HONEY SPOT, Jack Davis’ most celebrated theatrical work.
FOR SIX SHOWS ONLY !!!
Tim, a young Aboriginal boy, is the new kid in school. Peggy is the local Forest Ranger's daughter. A friendship blossoms between the youngsters, much to the disgust of Peggy’s father who suspects Tim's family of cutting down trees in the forest.
As Tim and Peggy’s friendship grows, Tim agrees to help Peggy to create a performance for her ballet scholarship assessment. With the help of Tim’s family they create a dance piece that blends the earthy feel of traditional Noongar dance with the fluid grace of classical ballet into a single dance piece, which they rehearse at the ‘honey spot’.
But Peggy's father and Tim's family seem to have nothing in common, that is, until danger strikes and forces them to face their prejudices.
Set in regional WA in the 1980s, HONEY SPOT is a play about two cultures living together, about two different philosophies on land conservation and about how friendship can overcome racial differences. One of Jack Davis’ most celebrated theatrical works, HONEY SPOT is a piece of quality Indigenous theatre for all ages.
