Harbour Theatre's Third Production for 2011 is the West Australian Premiere of the comedy:
"Ladies Down Under" by Amanda Whittington and directed by the award winning Peter Kirkwood.
The sequel to Harbour Theatre’s hugely successful "Ladies Day" in 2010, this is the hilarious tale of our foursome from the fish factory as they head off to Australia for the trip of a lifetime! Or so it seems.
"Ladies Down Under" revisits Amanda Whittington's characters from "Ladies Day", a play about four Northern lasses from a fish packing factory in Hull who win half a million pounds as Ascot. The ladies are brought back together again as they embark on a soul searching trip to Australia with their winnings.
After hitting the jackpot at Ladies Day, the fish-filleting foursome are celebrating in style with a trip to Australia. We follow shop-a-holic Shelley, pragmatic Pearl, mumsy Jan and big-hearted Linda as they travel from Hull to the Gold Coast, Uluru and the bright lights of Sydney. On their way they embark on a journey of self-discovery meeting various hunks of Antipodean manhood, including a couple of drag queens in their way to the Sydney Mardi Gras! While Shelley sees there's more to Oz than sun-kissed beaches, Pearl finds herself with a mountain to climb.
This is a fun production with the underlying significance being friendship and humanity, which takes you from laughter to tears and back again...and again.
Featuring: Tina Barker, Jade Craig, Ann Speicher, Sherrilee Walsh with Andy Markland, Trevor Dhu and Sam Cochran.
