Don Russell Performing Arts Centre presents
"Michelle Nicolle Quartet"
3 x Winner Australian Jazz Vocalist of the Year
Soulful, seductive, sensational jazz
Australia’s first lady of Jazz Michelle Nicolle premiers with her talented band at Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 8 May at 8pm.
Nicolle’s awe-inspiring voice and her astonishing improvisational gift have seen her crowned Australia’s finest jazz singer. She won the 2001, 2003 and 2004 Australian Jazz Vocalist of the Year Mo Award. Her past three albums all have been nominated for the Best Jazz Album ARIA Award.
She is renowned for her ability to get to the heart of a song and for being an exceptional scat singer.
Come along and hear her sing many of your favourite jazz standards such as Lover by song writing team Rodgers and Hart along with Hey There by Adler and Ross.
In what will be a scintillating evening of classic jazz and scat singing, Nicolle will be joined on stage by musicians Ronny Ferella (drums), Geoff Hughes (guitar), Tom Lee (acoustic bass).
Since her debut album in 1998, Michelle Nicolle has gone on to release six albums and has toured widely with her band throughout Australia and internationally with a highlight being their invitation to perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland.
