A Streetcar Named Desire is one of Tennesee Williams' most powerful dramas. It is a well-known play, with the film starring Marlon Brando and Vivienne Leigh. Director Fred Pezzimenti will bring the heat and music of New Orleans alive in this production. He has a strong cast and an interesting set for such a classic play. Blanche DuBois arrives at the apartment of her sister Stella and her husband Stanley Kowalski. Blanche is a relic of the Old South, Stanley a Polish immigrant, powerful and confident. A Streetcar Named Desire is a reflection of old America and the thriving new America of the immigrants. There is constant conflict between reality and fantasy, actual and ideal. The clash between the two culminates in tragic ramifications for all.
Individual session times need to be checked as they vary in some cases from the stated 8pm.
