After last year’s sell-out comedy festival season she was catapulted into waxing stardom – with waiting lists a mile long, her appointment book is now chock-the-block until May 2011. There is no way you can get into the world’s most highly sought after waxer to the stars’ salon, but you could come to see her in one of her hit shows to drink from her fountain of worldly knowledge. Rosa is such a fashionista, all the big labels are throwing their designs at her, and just recently she was first runner up at Spring Racing Carnival’s Fashion on the Fields on Derby Day. Marney McQueen is quickly becoming one of the hottest comedy cabaret performers in Melbourne – she was shortlisted for Best Newcomer during her debut season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2009 and went on to rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival. This year Marney is back with a brand new show starring Rosa the Russian Beautician and a swag of other characters from across Australia. This is a truly unique comedy cabaret show. A graduate of NIDA, Marney has studied with Australian master of character comedy Barry Humphries in New York, which she notes “has had a great influence on my work”. She appears weekly as Rosa the Russian Beauty Therapist in her own show, Rosa Waxes Lyrical on Melbourne's JOY 94.9 radio station.
