A lad in sane productions and the Phoenix Theatre Inc, are pleased to present the debut of 'Bargain Burials' a comedy by Johnny Grim. Bargain Burials The story… The year is 1976. The setting is the Australian outback town of ‘Wedgiemugurrah.’ Yer, typical outback town, where years roll by with barely a breath of change. And that’s exactly how the locals, (the Wedgies), prefer it. It’s here in this dusty place, that we meet two born and bred ‘Wedgies,’ Shane and Kev. Local lads who during the day tend the towns parks, gardens and cemetery. Life for Shane and Kev is just ‘bloody bonza mate!’ That is, up until the day technology came to town in the form of a backhoe machine purchased by the owner of the town’s sole funeral parlour. Suddenly, ‘would yer bloody believe it?’ the boys jobs are ‘bloody gone mate!’ Undeterred by their unceremonious dumping, Shane and Kev decide to put their years of experience to good use, and open up a rival funeral parlour. After coercing a few close friends to help with the set up, a new cut price funeral parlour is ‘just about ready to go!’ BARGAIN BURIALS tells a story of mateship, loyalty, and above all else, ‘Standing up for what you believe in mate!’ Performance times dates: 8PM 17/18/19/20/25/26/27 March 2010 3PM 21/28 March 2010
