Following a sell-out Blue Room season in February 2009, Renegade Productions returns with the world premiere of a new collaboration between playwright Demelza Rogers (Mammalien) and director/designer Alexa Taylor (in the shadow of the wild); Tuesday, at The Blue Room 20 August – 5 September. Are you sitting comfortably? Are you sure? Then I’ll begin. It was the saddest day of both their lives... Andrew the Astronaut and Richard the Cowboy happen upon each other in a storybook park. By the light of a paper moon they share an absurd conversation about their desires for success and happiness that wavers between lightly satirical and devastatingly honest. “What you do, friend, is you outwardly live out your childhood ideals ...Then you sit in parks, lyin’ about yourself to strangers who you don’t wanna leave.” Writer Demelza Rogers talks of the bigger themes her two characters illustrate: “Tuesday is about the choices we make in our lives that are so simple, they’re often overlooked. “In privileged Western societies there is almost always a choice between happiness and sadness, in being the victor or the victim, a choice that allows us to decide who we are and how we want to feel.” With an award-winning design team (Judges’ Choice – Excellence in Theatrical Design, Blue Room Awards ’09) and featuring an original soundscape from composer Joe Lui, Tuesday offers the intricately crafted all-encompassing theatrical experience audiences have come to expect from Renegade Productions (Frankenstein, The Stratagem of Interlocking Rings).
