If Music be the food of love …. ROCK ON
Love, lust, longing and loss
William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night unlike you’ve ever seen before
Shakespeare’s classic comedy is set to the tune of sexy glam rockers, drunken grunge boys, bubble gum pop starlets, rumble tumble fights, slap stick comedy and all your favourite 90’s songs & pop culture in Starlight theatre co-op’s third production of 2009.
This is Director Leah Pellinkhof’s first production with Starlight Theatre Co-op, fresh from her Matilda nominated ‘My Pet Human’. Her adaptation of ‘Twelfth Night’ is set to get audiences clapping, laughing, dancing in their seats and finally understanding Shakespeare.
Viola and her twin brother Sebastian are lost at sea.
Viola, disguised as a boy called Cesario falls in love with Orsino.
Orsino, longs after Olivia but really loves himself.
Olivia meets Cesario, (who’s actually Viola), and its lust at first sight,
but Orsino’s concerned he’s falling for Cesario too.
And Maria is keen on Toby but he’s too drunk to notice,
and Andrew’s drunk with love that’s unrequited from Olivia.
She mistakenly pounces on Sebastian who smitten at fist kiss will fight for his new love,
but Antonio adores Sebastian who’s crushed from a broken heart.
Well they all hate Malvolio who is mad for Olivia’s love.
A little confusing, a lot funny, dukes up, swords drawn, girls dressed as boys and hearts worn on sleeves Shakespeare’s classic tale is set to please Shakespeare enthusiasts and novices alike.
