New York salutes Hollywood in this affectionate spoof of the film musicals of the 1930s in which the understudy steps in at the last moment and becomes a star.
A Broadway musical is in rehearsal when calamity strikes and the theatre is demolished just as the show is about to open. The show’s songwriter happens to be a sailor and manages to arrange an alternative venue of - a battleship. Unfortunately life on the ocean wave doesn't quite agree with the leading lady, so a new star has to be found in order to save the show.
