Family Matters: 2008 One Act Season

The Stirling Players present their 2008 One Act Season, entitled "Family Matters." "Trust" was written in 2000 by Edith Cowan University student Audra Standage. It was first performed under a tree in Hyde Park in February 2001. Set in the North Queensland tropical rainforest, "Trust" is a play about the relationship between Hetty and Mia, two women who have known each other most of their lives. But how well do they really know each other? And how well do they know Daniel, the mysterious man who calls himself the caretaker of the rainforest retreat where they are staying? Is Daniel what he claims to be? Can any of them trust each other? The play is directed by Ines Tedesco with the assistance of Elizabeth Jansen. It stars Tina Barker (Mia), Chloe King (Hetty) and Greg Hopson (Daniel). "Bread" is a comedy written and directed by Curtin University performance studies student Nate Doherty. Mum awakens one morning to discover all the family bread she bought has mysteriously vanished. Who is the culprit? Her two sons, Nick or Adam? Or her husband? And most importantly of all, who will venture to the shops to get more? Mum is determined that this time, it will certainly not be her. A satirical look at bread and the modern family at its most petty. Featuring Fran Gordon (Mum), Chris Olive (Nick), Brendan Ellis (Adam) and Bob Charteris (Dad). "Chinamen," written by Michael Frayn and directed by Barry Lefort, is one act comedy/farce of a dinner gone wrong. A couple arrange a simple dinner party for their friends, all should be well but things don’t go as planned. We see how a very funny series of events could happen to any one of us! It features Peter Fransico (Stephen), Viviane Mecklen-Bec (Jo), Bob Charteris (Barney), Chloe King (Bee) and Madelaine Page (Alex). ** All shows begin at 8pm, except for the Sunday matinee on August 31 which begins at 2pm. ** There will be short intervals between each play.
