H.M.S. Pinafore is one of the most-loved musical theatre pieces of the English-speaking world. Two young lovers are denied the one thing they most desire... marriage! Originally performed in 1878, Sullivan, as conductor at the royal Opera House, was able to include some of the music into the Promenade Concerts. Soon tunes from “Pinafore” were whistled by errand boys and the catch phrase “What never? – Hardly ever!” swept Britain and America Under the direction of Timothy Ide, this unmissable show will play at the Scott Theatre from 21 to 25 October 2008.
