Annie is a red girl growing up in a blue world filled with loneliness, love, desire, and loss. With her mother gone, Annie must care for her alcoholic father day in and day out. Her only friend is a beast slowly growing beneath her floorboards...
Six of Perth's finest upcoming theatre artists are proud to present Red Lashes - opening April 8th and running until April 11th as part of the 2008 UNIMA World Puppetry Festival.
Red Lashes is an evocative site specific performance that weaves together puppetry, shadows, song, double bass and the cavernous space of the historic East Perth engineering sheds of City Farm.
Red Lashes originally debuted as a short performance in 2005 at the Midland Railway Workshops, and later that year in the Artrage Festival as part of the 2005 Northbridge Festival.
The show has been written by Jeffrey Jay Fowler (Zen's Red Mouth [Winner, 2007 PACS Members' Choice Award], Hope Is The Saddest), and directed by Tim Watts (acting credits include Deathtrap, Specks In The Black) - in collaboration with Michelle Robin Anderson (The Laramie Project, Hope Is The Saddest [Winner, 2007 Equity Guild Award for Best Newcomer]), Oda Aunan (City Of Cake, Specks In The Black), Brendan Ewing (Performer of the winning monologue at the 2007 Maj Monologues) and Sharney Nougher (Zen's Red Mouth, City Of Cake).
The irreverent, bold, and transformative nature of Red Lashes is destined to enchant crowds overs its petite four-show festival season.
