My Lover's Eye

The Company of Muses is a collaborative union of players drawn from local schools, universities & Tafe colleges under the direction of playwright Amanda Portus. Amanda has written & directed several year 12 plays, helping her students receive honours in assessment and this, My Lovers Eye is her most poetic effort to date. Set in early Sydney Town, the play incorporates art, forgery, love, death and a Lover’s Eye . A Lover’s Eye was a popular item of jewellery during the early 18th century. Worn as brooches or lockets, they were miniature portraits of the eye of a loved one, not necessarily the eye of your betrothed. To accompany the arts theme, there will be an exhibition by art inq. including a variety of Lovers Eyes to purchase. This play has all of Amanda’s standard signatures: great costumes, arch direction, amazing performances, a kiss, a tear, and a brilliant script.
