THE GATHERING
Directed by Matt Lutton
“Who of the ones given life and senses would not want to see miracles and explore in their own spirit the procession of the world.” Egon Schiele
A bike crash on the other side of the world. A gentle murder. A blind dancer.
A painter obsessed with the moon landing. And the only guide Anna has is a portrait of her murdered father.
From the award winning company that brought you The Bald Prima Donna and Bed, ThinIce Productions presents the world premiere of an innovative new West Australian performance The Gathering, directed by Matt Lutton. A fast paced and highly visual theatrical play set in a colliding world of hundred year old autopsies, raining tea cups and common age-old love.
Told through bold and physical performance Igor Sas (Art, A Man with Five Children), Renee McIntosh (Uncle Vanya, Educating Rita), Eamon Flack (DealerÂ’s Choice, Terminus) and Adriane Daff (The Visit) tell the story of a girl digging through everyone elseÂ’s past in the search for her own future.
Digital projection and original filmic underscoring creates a constantly shifting space within which four lives gather themselves up out of the muck of the last century.
In a change of company direction and focus, The Gathering marks the first work by ThinIce Productions to solely dedicate itself to the creation of new theatrical work in a professionally collaborative environment, with the intention of touring. Two other new works are in development for 2006 and 2007. Featuring a superb creative production team, The Gathering is designed by Bryan Woltjen, Projections by Sohan Ariel Hayes, Sound by Kingsley Reeve, Composition by Ash Gibson Greig and Lighting by Nick Higgins.
Be the first to see The Gathering at the Artrage Festival in October 2005 before it tours to Melbourne.
