Pack up Your Troubles
“Being at war is a lot more than just bombs and bullets.”
Following the successful city Lunchtime Theatre season of Pack Up Your Troubles, for three performances only, Cabaret trio “Strike Three” will stage a FULL LENGTH version of the play at Curtin Theatre, John Curtin College of Performing Arts on Remembrance Day, Friday 11th November and Saturday, 12th November.
Pack Up Your Troubles follows the antics of four West Australians who are front line entertainers during the Second World War and are rehearsing for their final performance in Palestine. Lily (Ann Adlem) is a war widow who has lost a husband and two brothers to the war and is “not prepared to sit at home any longer”, positive thinking Sergeant Bill Merryweather a seasoned soldier, who saw battle in WW1 and Lieutenant James Darling, a professional soldier a “sticklier for rules and procedure” are wonderfully accompanied by Simon Holt as the dithering, sunstroked Corporal Fred Smith.
A special feature of Pack Up Your Troubles is the recordings of real life stories collected from ex servicemen. Additional footage including interviews from ex servicewomen are included in this production.

Sing, remember and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of WW11 with popular songs from the wartime including A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, ItÂ’s a Long Way to Tipperary, Take me back to Dear Old Blighty, Pack Up Your Troubles, ThereÂ’ll be Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover, WeÂ’ll Meet Again, and IÂ’ll be Seeing You.
Handzon Theatre would like to thank the Army Museum of WA and Anzac House for their cooperation in assisting us with this project. $1 from every ticket sale will be donated to the Army Museum of WA.
